Xinha is a WYSIWYG editor and since it can be used in Mozilla based browsers like Firefox, it's our favorite! The following explanation is for our customers and the Zencart enthusists who now have access to Xinha in their admin.
Save - in place of a submit button. Turns green when there are no changes. Red means click it, you fool, or you will lose your changes!
Toggle - Expand editing window to full browser.
Find/replace inside the text area - doesn't work in html mode unfortunately
just like Word - bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
Font color - also called foreground color.
Background color
Superscript and subscript (using these will throw off the line height in html. I suggest avoiding using these if possible.
Horizontal rule
Character Map - insert different characters/letters.
Linker - insert a link to a file on your server, a url or an email link with target options.
Creates the anchor that you can link to the same page.
Upload images and files and/or link to them.
Uploads images and/or inserts them on your page.
alignment - use sparingly as your stylesheet should have this mostly taken care of
insert bulleted or numbered lists (easiest to create each line using paragraphs then select all the lines and click the list. Choice of different numbers.
They call this indenting but actually it moves the whole paragraph or division over. Use sparingly.
Undo and redo - life savers!
Select all - though I can never remember this one!
Printer, of course!
In IE you will see these usual cut, copy, paste emblems. In Mozilla you want see them but you can use control+x for cut, control+c for copy, control+v for paste. It works. (Xinha's best advantage!)
These 2 also don't show in Mozilla - the first is to overwrite instead of insert and the little files are a save as (html and txt only)
Clean up tools - please remember these. The first removes extra word formatting, the second clears inline font formatting and the third removes all formatting.
That first <> indicates toggle between html and wysiwyg modes. I doubt most of you will use these but take a peek at the code! The second is a spellchecker, of course. The ? icon is a help button that shows shortcuts and I'll will be putting this page as a link in the copies I distribute. The last icon is a xinha description and info.
The obvious insert table icon is followed by one that looks very faded. That one will show the borders of a table that has no borders. Very handy for finding those tables and cells.
The last grayed out section is the table operations so that those of you who know more about the ways to play with tables can do so. Eventually, I might add the descriptions in but I prefer to discourage the use of tables!
I give her credit for everything!
